0.4.0 - HUGE Update 🐬


Wow! I can't believe it's been 4 months since the last update, but it's because we made really big changes to the game.


  1. The "store" and "battle" screen have been combined so that you can watch the enemy make moves and assemble their grid. I really like games that give you full knowledge of enemy intents like Into the Breach and Slay the Spire so I wanted to follow that design practice here. Since our game is a single player auto battler, it makes sense!
  2. New UI Art! This is the most obvious change and was done by Kartik Kini of Finite Reflection Studios. It's really helped us move in a direction and figure out how the game will be themed. 
  3. A preview of how the "full game" will be. We've started implementing how unlocking new levels will work. There's still a lot to be done here, but an eventual 9 "ranks" with 3 attainments each is what we're aiming for.

Other small changes are:

  • Changing the "freeze" button to a physical spot where you place a card to hold it. I want to lean into this physicality as much as possible because I think it will open up more systemic possibilities. 
  • Giving the player 3 lives they can lose, and the enemy 9. We found it was good for the player to have multiple lives so that people would have at least a little bit of time to build up their synergies.
