YO. 

This is a huge update. I'll list the big things below. 

But first I'll say some things about my current ambitions for the game before I get into the minutiae.

Ambitions:

I'm trying to do some things different than other auto battlers. It's been about 2 and a half years of trying a lot of stuff. I went down the road of making the game more systemic for a long while, and that was fun, but limiting. In this latest update I removed the combining cards mechanic (called "distillation"). It was hard to kill that darling! But the game is better for it. It was hindering my ability to make new items and units because every piece of content was very dependent on the next. While this brings me back to more basic auto battler territory, I understand that it needed to go.

The other big change I made was that you are now fighting enemy-only units. I held off on this for a while because I didn't know if I could make the content, but it became apparent that this made a lot of sense for a single player auto battler. The ability to balance difficulties when you're fighting against the same units as you is very difficult and doesn't allow much room for a gentle gradient. I think this route will be more interesting overall. 

Going forward, I hope to keep filling out the "Constructed Rituals" mode with more enemy-only teams. The "Attainments" (in-game achievements) have always been something that's interested me and I'm happy where they're at. I'm considering making the same kind of rank and attainment structure for the "Mirror Rituals" game mode. I'm considering another game mode that I'm calling "Distorted Rituals" where I want to play with the base rules of the game - I much prefer content that does interesting things like that. 

Other than that I want to make a "Compendium" to show what units/items/etc. that you've used and unlocked.

Big Updates List:

  • 20 new indulgences (persistent upgrades).
  • New original unit art by JJ99
    • Several new units
    • Now you fight enemy only units
  • New menu, and a second unlockable "Mirror Rituals" (which are basically what it used to be where you fight same-units).

+ like a million other small fixes.

Another change is how units attack. Instead of attacking a random unit in the closest occupied column, they'll now start by attacking the unit in the matching cell, then choosing a random unit in the closest occupied column if there's no match.
